How much do you charge
for shipping?
Shipping is charged per gown, and is based on
weight. All the gowns are either sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery
or by a separate courier service (depending on the weight). Prices
start from £6. If you are buying more than one gown I will be happy
to put them together in to one shipment to save money, please
contact me about this first so I can give you a quote. I may use
first class mail for less valuable items.
Most gowns are available for
overseas delivery. Normally this will be with an International
courier company. I cannot estimate the average price as this will
vary depending on the weight and the destination. Please check the
individual shipping information on each gown for prices. If there is
no International shipping information on the gowns description, then
I'm very sorry, that particular gown cannot be shipped overseas
(although this is only on very rare occasions).
All gowns regardless of
destination are sent using a traceable service, for security and
reassurance.
What payment methods
will you accept?
At the present time I am able to accept payments
using PayPal and Google Checkout. Both of these services are free
for you to use, and you will able to use your credit or debit card
through them. Simply add you items to the shopping cart, and when
you checkout, choose from the PayPal or the Google Checkout options,
this will take you through to the relevant payment gateway.
If you do not wish to sign up to
either of these services, then please use the PayPal option, PayPal
will let you enter your card details as a one off transaction if you
do not have an account.
I don't accept personal cheques
or postal orders. Payment methods may differ for
custom made gowns.
How long
will it take for me to receive my gown?
This depends on where you live and the carrier
method. If you live in the UK, and the gown is not custom, as long
as you complete the purchase and payment before 2pm I will ship the
same day. If the delivery is by Royal Mail Special Delivery then you
should receive it next day.
However, if the delivery is made
through another carrier service for extra heavy gowns then it may
take 3 - 4 days. This carrier will normally be DHL or ParcelForce.
This involves a collection and delivery service from the carrier so
it takes a little longer than the local Post Office.
Overseas deliveries can vary
depending on the location. Most carriers aim to deliver with in a
week although some can take up to 3 weeks, so if you have an event
you need to attend, please make sure you order well in advance.
I am not responsible for delays
with any carrier service that is used. I cannot dispatch any items
during weekends and Public holidays. You will receive the tracking
number allocated to your gown for your assurance.
Can I get a dress
remade in another size?
If you have seen a dress that I have made in the
past or one that I currently have for sale that you like, but is not
in your size, I can make one for you. If you fit into the standard
sizes described in the size cart below, then the gown will be
charged at the current rate for that gown. If however, you do not
fit in to the size cart (i.e. hip size 14, waist size 16, bust size
10 etc), then I will make the gown to fit. This then becomes a
custom made gown, which will cost more as much more work is
involved. Please see our custom made gowns
section for more information.
Can I get accessories to
match?
Many items come with matching accessories, such
as draw string bags, masks, circlets, fascinators etc. I normally
make these out of matching or similar materials to the gown itself.
But if you see a gown you like with no accessories I will try to
accommodate your request.
I do not make jewellery to match
the gowns, however, there are many skilled crafts people around who
will gladly make you exquisite jewellery to compliment your gown. A
good place to start is www.etsy.com
, all sellers on here sell hand made items and many work on
commission, or if you are on more of a budget
www.ebay.co.uk, again on ebay
there are plenty of jewellery makers who will make to request.
Do you cater for children?
I do not cater for young children, and I have no
intention of branching into children's clothing. However, I will
make custom gowns suitable for teens,
normally over the age of 12 or 13.
Do you make men's clothes
too?
At the moment I'm just focusing on women's gowns,
although at some point in the future I would like to start making a
range of men's wear, in period costume.
Are all your gowns the
same length?
Relatively speaking yes. All the long gowns are
cut to the same length (although you can see specific details on
each individual dress). The gowns are left very long, and are not
hemmed. The bottom edge of the gowns will be overlocked (serged/finished),
to enable your local seamstress to hem the dress at the correct
length for you. I can do this for you at an extra charge once you
have brought the gown and taken any relevant measurements, although
it is best if you can have the hem measured while you are wearing
the gown.
Some gowns may be finished on the
bottom if there is extra detail involved, e.g. lace edging,
pleating etc. In this case the hem cannot be shortened and the final
length will be specified on the details of that particular dress.
Can I order multiple gowns that are similar for Bridal
parties/Re-enactment/Special Events?
I am willing to do multiple gowns to order in
standard sizes. Anything that does not fit into my standard size
chart below will be classed as a custom
gown and need extra work.
I do not offer discounts for
large orders, because each gown will still take me the same amount
of time to make. I will however, combine any shipping costs. Please
be aware that multiple gowns will take me much longer than one dress
to fill the order, so please contact me to discuss time scales for
the project.
What are your standard sizes?
Please see the
dress size chart for the standard
British dress size. Please note, other Countries have different
comparable sizes. I will only work to British sizes, please take
accurate measurements to see what your size is based on my chart.
Can you alter a
gown once I've purchased it?
I charge on a per hour basis for alterations. I
am happy to shorten hems, add any extra fasteners, extra boning etc.
Although any major alterations should be done by your local
seamstress who will be able to fit the gown to you while you are
wearing it.
See the item description for
hemming or shortening/lengthening charges.
How many identical gowns do you make or are they all different?
Most gowns in my collections are made to order,
which means one gown may very well be the same as another. I offer a
range of sizes of each gown, available in different colours. If you
would like a "one off" I sometimes have these available for sale and
I may also be able to accommodate a custom gown, please ask about
creating a custom "one off" gown, as my current work load will
dictate as to whether I can accommodate this or not.
