This skirt is very
easy to make and would be an ideal beginners project, or
a quick sewing project for anyone it need of some
lightweight summer clothing.
The skirt has two layers, a longer
bottom layer showing a contrasting coloured fabric with
a shorter main fabric layer on the top, and is a knee
length skirt. The picture
above shows the skirt with a waist band, however I have
included brief instructions on how to make this skirt
with an elastic waist should you find it easier.
The skirt is slightly gathered at
the waist, and when finished give a lovely light and
airy skirt which would be great for wearing all summer
long. For an autumn skirt, substitute the light weight
fabrics for something a little heavier for that bit of
extra warmth.
The back of the skirt
with the waist band option also features a zip and a
fastening (hook and loop or button etc)
This
pattern will require some knowledge of sewing and an
understanding of what pattern symbols mean (if you not
sure please search on line for pattern symbols or refer
to a good sewing book).
Approximate amounts of fabric required:
1.5m
main fabric (light weight cotton, cotton blends, or
other light weight woven fabrics)
1.5m contrast fabric

weight woven fabrics)

1 zip
18cm long (normal or concealed)
