Would you like to know how to grade your sewing pattern for additional sizes?

Here we've put together a tutorial for you to follow.

This pattern grading tutorial is not exhaustive, and is based on a simplified  basic shape bodice with no darts and sleeve.

The principles can be used to grade a pattern that has darts, although care must be taken not to alter the shape of the darts themselves. If you need more in depth grading information for grading complex designs then refer to a good pattern grading text book.

This tutorial has been designed to show you the pattern grading process rather than just the end result. With instructions on how to work out what your grades should be based on given measurements, which is ideal if you wish to grade sizes that are not standard. Of course if you just need to size up one size based on standard measurements, then you can skip most of the tutorial, and just view the finished grading dimensions! (Note, the information contained is for hand grading, this tutorial does not cover computer grading)

Slash and spread type grading is covered, as well as dimensional point grading (cardinal points)
