Men's Waist Coat with Welt Pockets Sewing Pattern - Sizes 34-44 - Download PDF

The waistcoat is an ideal for formal functions when made in a plain, striped, or heavier luxurious fabric. But will also look stunning in a wide range of fun patterned and colourful fabrics, for the more adventurous.

The waistcoat features an angular pointed bottom, 5 buttons, fully functioning welt pockets, and a belt on the back. The waistcoat is also fully lined.

The finished back length of the waistcoat is 20" (51cm), which for the average man will be the perfect waistcoat length. The pattern can always be adjusted a little by adding some extra length for those who are taller, or shortened for smaller men.

It's a fairly simple pattern, however the welt pockets are rather tricky if you have never made them before, you can always make the waistcoat without the welt pockets, or make mock (non-functioning) pockets instead.
This pattern will require some knowledge of sewing and an understanding of what pattern symbols mean (if you not sure please search on line for pattern symbols or refer to a good sewing book).

Approximate amounts of fabric required:

0.7m main fabric (heavier fabrics are better, such as suiting, but most fabrics can be used successfully)
1.4m lining fabric cottons or satins
0.5m iron-on interfacing (light weight)
1x 2.5cm/1” waistcoat buckle
5x buttons (self fabric covered buttons if possible to match the main fabric)

The patterns included are based on chest sizes 34", 36", 38", 40", 42", 44". These are FULL SIZE patterns (this is an all in one/multisized pattern so you can adjust the pattern should you be an inbetween size, and cut the size you need).
